Featuring the Writing and Playing of DAVE WEAVER

This Summer’s Concert ,our featured artist is one of our own, lead alto saxophonist , Dave Weaver.

One of the most important artist involved with the big band idiom is the arranger. Their role is to shape the material at hand in a viable expression for the jazz orchestra . This showcase will present a program of Dave’s fresh and unique arrangements as well as his talents as a multi instrumentalist .

Born in Bridgeport Connecticut ,”Weave” started studying Clarinet at the age of 10. He got a tenor sax when he was 15 and soon was touring New England in a band. This experience prepared him for a career in the US Navy Band where he had an opportunity to develop his arranging skills. After his stint in the Navy Band, Dave has enjoyed success as a freelance professional having performed with an extensive list of some of the top stars in the music business.                                                                                                        Dave’s wide range of experience in virtually every musical style and his versatility on all the woodwinds has made him in demand as a writer and a player. We are fortunate to be able to present his music with the Sanford Jazz Ensemble.

Also Featured is Linda Cole , Florida’s First Lady of Song. Linda will be doing some favorite standard tunes and some new arrangements by Weave. Linda’s group was a big success at the recent Jacksonville Jazz Festival and she always enjoys an enthusiastic  response at the WDPAC.

Jack Simpson ” Jazz on the Beach”  from wucf 899.9 fm , will host the concert.Jack’s long, and wide range experience in the field of Jazz make him a valuable asset to any program. We look forward to seeing your face in the audience ,and would like to thank you for your support, helping us preserve the big band Jazz tradition .
